Open Access Counselling

With a team of professional and experienced counsellors working from our dedicated counselling building in the heart of Llanelli, Llanelli Mind has provided counselling services across southwest Wales for over a decade. Fully insured and members of a professional body whose code of ethics is embedded into the core of our work we offer counselling both in person and digitally to all of our clients and are proud to say we are here to listen.

About this service:

Llanelli mind offer two open access / paid for counselling services for individuals and couples over the age of 18 and a service for children and young people over the age of 11; however if you are a patient in one of the Llanelli surgeries below, you can access counselling by asking your GP to refer you which is a free service.

  • Avenue Villa,
  • Burryport,
  • Fairfield,
  • Llangennech,
  • Llwynhendy and
  • Ty Elli.

Option One – Qualified Counsellor Service: To access our service provided by our qualified counsellor team please complete the relevant form letting us know any times that you would be unavailable for appointments 

Current wait times for our qualified counsellor service is 1-2 weeks and costs £40 per session for individuals, children & young people; and £50 per session for couples.

Option Two – Counsellor in Training Service: A service for individuals 18+ who are experiencing mild to moderate distress. All counsellors in training hold a fitness to practice certificate issued by their accredited training course and are members of a recognised professional body.

Current wait times for our the counsellor in training service is approximately 10 weeks and costs between £10-£20 per session dependant on circumstances. 

All profits from our Open-Access Services will go towards funding our Blue Ribbon Counselling Service; “Funded BY the community, FOR the community”.

Our Open Access Services are offered on a self-referral basis and can be accessed via the relevant referrals forms below:

Waiting times:

We are always asked “how long will I wait?” This is difficult to predict as it is dependent on referral numbers however current wait times are approximately:

Option One – Qualified Counsellor Service: 2 weeks

Option Two – Counsellor in Training Service: 10 weeks
