What Does The Project Do?

Our Children & Young People (CYP) services are run from our dedicated venue, Y Stryd. Operating as a welcoming community café during the day, Y Stryd provides a safe, inclusive drop-in space where anyone can enjoy coffee, cake, or a light breakfast or lunch. All proceeds from the café go directly back into funding and running our CYP services. Beyond enjoying food and drink, visitors can drop in to chat, receive informal guidance, and get signposted to specialist support services such as counselling.

Outside of core café hours, Y Stryd transforms into a dedicated space for children and young people, offering afternoon and evening services. We provide tailored 1-2-1 support, including informal chats and Active Monitoring (a structured self-help programme for young people aged 11 to 18 years). Active Monitoring offers an opportunity to explore emotions and feelings alongside a friendly, trained practitioner over guided 1-2-1 sessions.

Y Stryd also hosts regular youth club style drop-ins, including a dedicated session for young carers on Monday evenings, as well as general youth club drop-ins on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, with additional activities and support continually being developed. The venue features a dedicated sensory room, providing a calming space for neurodiverse individuals or anyone needing to decompress and reset. Additionally, we provide professional counselling for children and young people, as well as individual or couples counselling services for parents.

What do service users achieve?

Y Stryd gives children, young people, and their families a dedicated, safe environment to build resilience, express themselves, and access timely mental health support. Through 1-2-1 Active Monitoring and professional counselling, young people develop vital coping mechanisms, emotional literacy, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges.

Our youth club drop-in sessions help reduce isolation, fostering a strong sense of community and peer support, particularly for young carers who benefit from dedicated space and understanding. Families as a whole benefit from comprehensive care, enabling parents to receive dedicated counselling while children access specialised support, all under one supportive roof.
